Sui Dhaaga And Pataakha Box-Office Collection, Day 1: Badass Sisters Sanya-Radhika Try Igniting Fuski Bomb; Anushka-Varun Stitch Neat
Sui Dhaaga, starring Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma has got a good start at the box-office, in spite of the fact that there was the India-Bangladesh Asia Cup final however, Sanya Malhotra and Radhika Madan's Pataakha failed to create any firework
Varun Dhawan and Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga
has recorded ₹8.30 Cr nett on Friday. The film had a good start at the
box-office despite the big Asia Cup Final match between India and Bangladesh.
This YRF family entertainer is riding on decent reviews from critics and a
positive word-of-mouth from audiences. Sui Dhaaga is hopeful of seeing a big
jump over the weekend.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh took to social media to
announce the figures. He wrote, "#SuiDhaaga has an encouraging Day 1...
Had an ordinary start in the morning shows, but gathered momentum as the day
progressed... Film lost out on a big chunk of biz due to #AsiaCup2018 finals,
but should recover lost ground on Day 2... Fri ₹ 8.30 cr [2500 screens]. India
biz (sic)."

SpotboyE.com Editor Vickey Lalwani gave the movie three
stars. In his review he writes, "I begin with Varun Dhawan, the boy has
put in a very intense performance. He is so lovable, that you will definitely
identify with his character if you have struggled in your early days (which I
did). I quite like him more when he sports a moustache, do you? As for Anushka
Sharma, I could not believe my eyes. She is so good. Marvellous is the word, hardly
any dialogues and lots of expressions- isn't that what real acting is all
about? An extra inch for Anushka? Hmmm... nope, it's a tie between Varun and
her. In far less than its run of 122 minutes, the endearing Sui Dhaaga drives
home the message that love is not about holding hands, necking, kissing and
having sex. Sui Dhaaga teaches you that your parents may not be on the same
page with you, but you should not neglect them. Sui Dhaaga tells you that never
work in an organisation that humiliates you. Sui Dhaaga conveys that you have
an inner talent and don't listen to your head and stagnate on the same career
path if your heart flutters otherwise."
At the same time, Vishal Bhardwaj's Pataakha opened up to
₹90 Lakhs on its Day 1. The film has had a not so great start and will have to
show a significant jump on Saturday and Sunday in order to stand at a decent
weekend figure.
Trade expert Taran Adarsh took to social media to
announce the figures. He wrote, "#Pataakha Fri ₹ 90 lakhs [875 screens].
India biz... Had a lukewarm start at the start of Day 1 and should grow over
the weekend... However, the growth has to be multi-fold since the starting
point has been extremely low (sic)."

SpotboyE.com Editor Vickey Lalwani gave the film two and
a half stars. In his review he writes, "Jhagdalu sisters (Sanya Malhotra
playing to the gallery) and Vijay Raaz's (drawing empathy) put their best
forward in screen times, which they may find hard to get soon again. But why
are they fighting? Hardly for a reason. At some point in the film, it is
explained that it’s just like the enemity between Bharat and Pakistan, uff! And
the ladies continue to fight, so much so that one of them almost lifts her top
and says 'mere kabutar'. Hats off to Vijay Raaz's consistency, the man is at it
again. And Sunil Grover is superb! More praise for Sanya and Radhika, it wasn't
an easy film to shoot- outdoors, rural areas, kicks, punches, deglam look and
lots more than the easy conventional stuff."
